Fusion – a new intranet connecting SARIA Food & Pharma

SARIA Food & Pharma has recently launched Fusion, a new intranet created to bring colleagues, resources and information together in one central hub. Built in response to colleague feedback and designed around real business needs, Fusion is helping to break down silos, improve communication, and strengthen collaboration across the Division.
The name “Fusion” was chosen through a Division-wide poll, with colleagues from Van Hessen, Devro, and Bioiberica all taking part. It reflects the core purpose of the platform: bringing people and information together, supporting transparency, and fostering a shared sense of identity across SARIA Food & Pharma.
Fusion makes it simpler than ever for colleagues to access divisional news, tools and resources, job vacancies, and organizational charts – creating a more connected and collaborative way of working across our Business Units.
This launch is just the beginning. Fusion will continue to evolve, with new features and improvements guided by ongoing colleague feedback, further strengthening collaboration and connection across SARIA Food & Pharma.
Van Hessen Paraguay scales up: 400% growth since 2020

On August 27, Van Hessen’s selection factory in Paraguay reached more than 10,000 hanks of selected hog casings in a single day, marking a major milestone in production.
Breaking records
The journey to this milestone has been nothing short of impressive. Back in 2020, the daily output stood at just 2,000 hanks per day. Fast forward to today, and production has soared to 10,000 hanks per day – a 400% increase in less than five years. Alongside this growth, the workforce has expanded from 100 employees to 300 employees, ensuring that the right balance of skill, experience, and teamwork supports the rising production levels
The power of smart investments
A key turning point has been the move to the new factory in September 2024. The upgraded facilities provided the foundation for better workflow design, improved processes, and more effective use of resources. By optimizing the flow of operations inside the factory, the local team has been able to reduce inefficiencies and maximize output per shift. This is a clear example of how strategic investment, rooted in efficiency, drives measurable results.
Strengthening the supply chain
The benefits extend beyond Paraguay. Finished goods are mainly sold in Brazil and Argentina, our two largest regional markets. By increasing production locally, we’ve reduced the need to import from outside of South America – shortening supply chains, lowering costs, and ensuring more reliable deliveries.
This milestone is not only a regional success but also a key step toward our global goal of reaching ‘30 million by 2030’.
Devro Nantong secures halal certification and opens global markets

The Devro Nantong site has achieved a major milestone: the successful renewal of its Halal certification, now officially recognized in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Gulf region. This achievement not only strengthens our global presence but also positions us to capture significant opportunities in rapidly growing Muslim consumer markets.
A vision turned into action
At the regional annual sales meeting, Wendy Li – Devro Nantong’s Operations Director and Future Manufacturing Footprint Lead, spotlighted the soaring demand for Halal products. Knowing that locally recognized certification is the essential gateway to these markets, she led the charge to secure this new approval—an effort perfectly aligned with our five‑year growth strategy.
Quality first: setting the standard
Behind this success is the dedication of the Devro Quality team. Quality Manager Shawn Gu and Quality System Supervisor Rose Wang worked tirelessly to decode complex Halal regulations and convert them into clear, practical processes. From sourcing raw materials to overseeing production, they built a robust quality assurance system that ensures every product meets the highest Halal standards.
Procurement: building trust from the ground up
Equally vital was the Procurement Department, guided by Procurement Manager Shirong Cao. By requiring suppliers to also hold Halal certification and providing detailed support, the team ensured every ingredient and process adhered to strict compliance, reinforcing the integrity of our products.
A golden key to new horizons
This Halal certification is more than a document – it’s a powerful symbol of trust, teamwork, and ambition. It opens doors to some of the world’s most dynamic markets, strengthens our global reputation, and brings us closer to consumers who value authenticity and quality.
Together, we’ve proven what’s possible. Together, we’re unlocking the future. Devro Nantong Can Do!
